Praying Scripture – 3/4/2020 – Lent

Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and I did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess
my transgression to the LORD.”
And you forgave
the guilt of my sin.
. . .
Many are the woes of the wicked,
but the LORD’s unfailing love
surrounds the one who trusts in him.
Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous;
sing, all you who are upright in heart!

Psalm 32:5, 10-11

Our Merciful Father,
Today, I once again join Your people across time and space and pray:

Most merciful God, I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone.
I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name.

Thank You that I can come before You just as I am, not hiding or pretending to be something I’m not. Thank You for Your great love, that forgives the repentant and surrounds them with Your unfailing love. Thank You for restored and renewed relationships with You and with Your people. Guide and direct my path, that I may love You and love my neighbor in every thing that I say and do. In Your precious Son’s name I pray. Amen.
