For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
Deuteronomy 30:16
Lord God,
I thank You for another day that I can live in Your presence and by the power of Your Spirit. So often it is easy to walk in my own ways and understanding or to live by the perspectives of the culture around me. But You call me to something different. You call me to live by Your ways and Your commands. You call me to obedience. That obedience may look different in the 21st century than it did in the Old Testament times, but Your call to live according to Your will hasn’t changed. Teach me Your ways, Father. Help me to be sensitive to the leading of Your Spirit and responsive to the teaching of Your word in both Testaments. Make me a blessing to my neighbor, loving them as I love myself. Transform me into the image of Your Son who not only died a sacrificial death, but lived a life that shows me what it means to be truly human, loving God and loving neighbor. In Jesus’ holy and righteous name I pray. Amen.
