On Resurrection Sunday, our family always greets one another with the traditional acclamation “He is risen!” And when I say that to someone who is familiar with it and responds with “He is risen, indeed,” I experience a moment of joy. We aren’t focusing on eggs and bunnies. We are focusing on our risen Savior. This morning I came across a comment about this greeting by Kieran J. O’Mahony:
We need to hear this acclamation more than ever before, for it announces something momentous: Evil, death and destruction are not the final word on each of us or on our lives or on our world, in spite of evidence to the contrary. This conviction is grounded in the proclamation of Christ risen, victorious over death, setting us free even from the fear of death itself.
Today, may you rest and rejoice in Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. We have true hope no matter what we are facing. We need not fear. He is risen, indeed!
