Different traditions focus on slightly different themes during Advent. Last week, we focused on hope. This week, we turn to the theme of preparation.
A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Isaiah 40:3 NIV
Father, we may not live in exile as the original audience of Your call did, but You have told us that we are not citizens of this world (Phil 3:20). Reveal to each of us the ways in which we need to be transformed in preparation for Your kingdom. Help us to heed Your calls to love and justice found throughout Your word. Transform us by Your Spirit that our lives may honor and glorify You. Amen.
