1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place
Psalm 90:1-6 NIV
throughout all generations.
2 Before the mountains were born
or you brought forth the whole word,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
3 You turn people back to dust,
saying, “Return to dust, you mortals.”
4 A thousand years in your sight
are like a day that has just gone by,
or like a watch in the night.
5 Yet you sweep people away in the sleep of death–
they are like the new grass of the morning:
6 In the morning it springs up new,
but by evening it is dray and withered.
Lord, our God,
You have been the dwelling place of Your people throughout the generations. You are the dwelling place in which I can rest today. In a world of uncertainty, You are certain. In a world where everything changes, you remain the same. From everlasting to everlasting, You are God. You are my God. I cannot begin to imagine the scope of what You see and know. I am so very limited. In time. In place. I am finite and so very fallible. Instead of relying on myself and my own understanding, help me to focus on You and what You tell me in Your word. Help me to rest is Your great sufficiency, trusting Your faithfulness instead of what I can grasp in my finitude. In Your Son’s name I pray. Amen.
