Praying Scripture – 5/13/2020

To humans belong the plans of the heart,
but from the LORD comes the proper answer of the tongue.
All a person’s ways seem pure to them,
but motives are weighed by the LORD.
Commit to the LORD whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.

Proverbs 16:1-3

Wise Father,
You know that I have thoughts and plans for today. You know that I often think I know the best way to respond to the situations I face, whether in word or deed. You know that I sometimes give myself the benefit of the doubt, while withholding that grace from others. I tend to think my plans are right, my responses are proper, and my motives are pure. You, though, weigh each. You know the truly right responses and see my motives and heart clearly. So, Lord, today I lift up each thing on my plate and ask for Your wisdom, grace, and discernment in carrying them out. Pour out your love and grace through me. I commit my plans for today into Your hands. If something needs to change, please direct me so that I follow Your desire for my day. May my words and deeds honor You, show Your character to the world around me, and contribute to Your kingdom in some small way. Make me an instrument of Your love, grace, and peace in all I do. In Your Son’s name I pray. Amen.
