Praying Scripture – 6/3/2020

Then we cried out to the LORD, the God of our ancestors, and the LORD heard our voice and saw our misery, toil and oppression. So the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great terror wand with signs and wonders. He brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with mild and honey.

Deuteronomy 26:7-9

Holy Father,
You heard the cries of Your people in Egypt millennia ago. Today I beg You to hear the voices of the oppressed in our own world. Hear their cries of pain. Hear their anger. Help me to hear it as well, listening to their voices. Deliver the oppressed in our world. Bring them to a place of flourishing, peace, and love. Show me how You want me to act to help bring that about. Help me hear Your voice and Your call in this season. So many are afraid or suffering today, whether due to a pandemic, to racism, or to looting. Deliver us from ourselves, Lord. Make Your church an instrument of Your love and peace, work in and through us. Root out unseen anger, hatred, and prejudice in each of us. Transform Your people into the image of Your Son, that we may show the world what You are like. Bring deliverance once again. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
